Invisalign

The Clear Alternative To Braces

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is the modern way to get the beautiful straight teeth you've always wanted — without braces. Schedule a consultation with our team so we can determine if Invisalign is right for you.

Your Invisalign treatment consists of a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners that you change every two weeks for the next set of aligners. Each aligner is individually manufactured for your teeth, and your teeth only. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to the final position prescribed by your dental provider.

Invisalign uses a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you're wearing. So, you can smile more during treatment as well as after. Invisalign is made with 3-D computer imaging technology and has been proven to be highly effective and accurate, especially for adults.

What's more, a virtual treatment plan generated by Align Technology's unique ClinCheck® software shows the series of movements your teeth will go through over the course of the treatment. This allows you to see upfront what your teeth are expected to look like at the end of the treatment. From the results of the ClinCheck software, your custom-made, clear aligners are produced especially for you.

If you're ready for a smile that transforms your appearance, Invisalign is your answer. Although there are many choices out there, no other treatment works as comfortably as Invisalign.

Invisalign is the best way to transform your smile without interfering with your day-to-day life.

How it works

You wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to the final position we have prescribed. You'll visit us about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.

Individually designed for your needs.

So you've decided Invisalign is for you, but what happens next? Simply visit our Invisalign-trained dentist Dr George Connell or Dr Jonathon Lam for a consultation to discuss your smile.

Once Dr Connell or Dr Lam determines that Invisalign is right for your needs, he will develop a detailed treatment plan from which your bespoke, virtually invisible aligners will be made to order.

Why would I want it?

Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem. They are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. No metal and wires usually means you spend less time in our practice getting adjustments. Invisalign also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.

Invisalign: The path to straight teeth

The path to straight teeth is often hindered by the thought of a lengthy period of wearing metal braces. However, fixing overbites, crossbites, underbites, overcrowded or even widely spaced teeth is no longer a tough decision to make. If you have ever wanted to straighten your smile, with little inconvenience, the clear alternative to traditional braces is invisalign.

How does Invisalign straighten teeth?

Invisalign fixes malocclusions and misalignments of the teeth through the appropriate placement of controlled forces, similar to traditional orthodontics. The difference, however, is that Invisalign controls the timing of the force application on each and every movement throughout each stage of the treatment plan.

Your customised treatment plan

A treatment plan is designed based on a complete set of dental records produced by extra and intra-oral photography, vinyl polysiloxane impressions of your dental arches, a full set of x-rays and a precise bite registration.

Impressions are then scanned by Align Technology's unique ClinCheck® software, generating a predicted movement path your teeth will go through over the course of the treatment. The correction path is established based on the bite registrations and photographs taken in practice, as well as collision control software. This allows you to see straight what your teeth are expected to look like at the end of the treatment.

Manufactured using 0.75mm thick plastic resin, a set of 18-36 trays of bespoke aligners are designed to each be worn for approximately two weeks. This means that most treatment plans usually last between 9-18 months, depending on the severity of the misalignment.

Initial Consultation and Treatment Process

Dr George Connell, Sydney Dental Surgeons trained Invisalign dentist, will discuss the issues you are currently experiencing with your teeth and determine if Invisalign is the right orthodontic path for you. Invisalign is not a suitable treatment for every type of malocclusion and alignment problem, hence Dr Connell will discuss with you in-depth, all the different orthodontic treatment options, assisting you to make the right decision.

Once the treatment process has begun, Dr Connell will request check-ups every 4-6 weeks to monitor the process and address any necessary refinements. As each new aligner is used throughout the treatment process, you will begin to notice small corrections and changes to your teeth alignment.
